Jim Meeks, PA-C was diagnosed with highgrade spindle cell sarcoma from a neural sheath in the right axilla on Februrary 20th, 2008. Recently, it was determined to have spread to the lungs and a vertebral body as well despite aggressive treatment.
As you can imagine, this has had a major impact in both his professional and personal life. Primarily, all activity associated with his billing and coding workshops and consultations have been put on hold. Due to the nature of his treatments and the nature of his primary employment at the University of Utah Urology Clinic, it was felt by his employer that it would be better if he took time off from work until this situation has resolved. Jim continues to serve actively with the Association of Family Practice Physician Assistants, where he serves as the Chair of the CME committee and is President Elect of the association for 2007-2008 and will become President of the association on July 1, 2008.
